The company could file a work ptitieon through USCIS. Normally, H1b ptitieons can lead to green card status. Those ptitieons are for skilled employment, defined as requiring a university degree or its equivalent in experience and training. The availbility for these ptitieons is limited and usually runs out very quickly in April. Check out uscis.gov for more information on the forms and procedures.
